The world around us seems to be unobtrusive to our everyday lives, giving us a background to our goals and ambitions. However, the connection between mankind as a whole and nature is inalienable and important. As our world becomes entrenched in the developments of man, nature seems to be losing its dominance. There are complex interactions between man and nature, a struggle for power, balance, and perpetuation. Does man dominate nature? Can nature be tamed? Will humanity be able to coexist with the endlessness of the natural world around us? The emphasis on this age old dichotomy has transformed immensely in recent history, and the survival of both man and nature depends on how we view this struggle.

People use art to help their well-being but also to draw attention to societal changes and issues. The combination of art and nature allows people to explore the natural world, create more profound meaning for themselves, and connect people through understanding and viewing their artwork.

I believe we have a deep spiritual connection to nature. The rich, often mystical environments, animals and figures I depict in my paintings come from my need to honor and understand that connection An intimate relationship with the environment is built into our psyche, and it is my hope that my paintings will help stir a response to that connection. Everything in nature has a story that needs to be heard.

It is my greatest wish to bring awareness of the connectedness of humankind and nature in my art, to tell a story with my paintings. I want everyone who views my art to feel the mystery and magic of ordinary things, and maybe, in some small way, help nurture a consciousness of compassion, connection and commitment to nature and our environment.
